Eva Vertes: My dream about the future of medicine

TED
This talk inspires me because she is so young and wants to cure cancer and is on her way. I think this talk can give hope to anyone who has cancer.
Go to Ted.com and search cancer of the blood then her talk will be the only one to come up. This site is a very good place to gain information on a number of medical topics and the fact that it is in video's contributes to the style of the website. These videos are also fairly recent. I give this website a 5 with regards to Multiple Myeloma but a 9 with regards to cancer in general.

Cedars-Sinai: Multiple Myeloma and Myeloma

http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/5745.html?gclid=CIiC3Jb7rZECFRsRFQod0SSXeQ
this website gives good overall information on the symptoms, causes and risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment. The facts are stated clearly and have heading for each subject matter. The information is up to date and also gives resources at Cedars-Sinai in case more information is needed. The site is not much to look at, but if information is what you're after i would highly recommend this site. I give it a 9.

EMedicine From WebMD

http://www.emedicine.com/Radio/topic460.htm
this site gives much more specific information on the background of multiple myeloma, pathophysiology, frequency, mortality, race, sex, age, anatomy, clinical details, preferred examination, and the limitations of techniques. To get specific information in one of these categories on this disease, I would look at this site. This site gives detailed information about the author and editor giving the viewer a sense that they are proud to have made this site which contributes to the credibility of this site. Not many pictures but tons of information. 8

The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society

http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/all_toplevel.adp?item_id=4187
This site has information regarding leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, other blood cancers, treatment and clinical trials, and signs and symptoms. This website is not specific to multiple myeloma but can give good information if the information looked for may just have to do with blood cancers in general. This site has many tabs to get more information regarding myeloma and gives much more information regarding other cancers as well. This site has a few diagrams and cartoons about the cancer so if you are looking for that I would consider this site. 8

CANCERCare

http://www.cancercare.org/get_help/help_by_diagnosis/diagnosis.php?diagnosis=myeloma
This site provides podcasts dealing with knowing how to care for your bones when you have multiple myeloma and also has booklets dealing with this information. The website also offers fact sheets, help with financial problems, and information on seeking more medical information. This site is much more colorful than most sites regarding Multiple Myeloma but it is mainly a site regarding phone numbers and ways to get in touch with others for help. If i was looking for someone to get in contact with about the cancer, I would give this site a 10.

Bone Scintigraphy In Multiple Myeloma

http://www.med.harvard.edu/JPNM/TF94_95/Jan17/WriteUpJan17.html
This website follows a study involving bone scintigraphy in multiple myeloma. This website gives overall information about the cancer and also talks about this doctor's conclusions regarding a patient who has negative plain films with a clinically painful site. This doctor suggests bone scanning in metastatic disease if this situation occurs. This site is very plain but gives an experiment so if you want to read about an experiment regarding this cancer I would check out this site. 6

About.com: Rare Diseases

Ferraro Fighting Multiple Myeloma
This website gives good overall information regarding statistics, treatment, treatment, a drug called Thalidomide, and offers links to other articles relating to multiple myeloma. This site is a story about Geraldine Ferraro and her story regarding Multiple Myeloma. To get a personal view I would recommend this site. 6
